Greenhouse experiments are underway to determine how extreme rainfall patterns influence rhizosphere dynamics within cover crops and corn systems. Our chief goal is to understand how extreme weather events will impact the efficacy of different conservation management practices such as the incorporation of cover crops. We are primarily interested in how biomass allocation, nutrient availability and food web structure and function are altered after drying and rewetting events.
